Our team of new build electricians will get to know your requirements, and assess the building type, power usage, budget, and future scalability.
We’ll then carry out a site survey to determine the best routes for cable runs, service entry points, and potential hazards.
We’ll assess the power needed for the structure, and our team will design the ideal electrical supply and distribution system.
Next, we’ll create detailed drawings and schematics for power distribution, internal and external lighting, fire alarms and emergency lighting, data and communication cabling, CCTV, access control and security systems, and renewable energy systems.
Our designs are compliant with BS 7671 (IET Wiring Regulations), Part P of the Building Regulations (for domestic builds) and UK Power Networks (or local DNO) connection requirements.
Finally, we’ll submit our design plans for approval and arrange incoming supply by liaising with the local Distribution Network Operator (DNO).
This takes place in the early stages of the build before plastering. We’ll install cabling, conduits, back boxes for sockets and switches, and earthing and bonding. After that, we’ll install the distribution board and the consumer unit.
Once the walls are ready, the second phase of installation can begin. Sockets, switches, faceplates, light fittings, and appliances (boilers, cookers, extractors, etc.) are installed. We’ll also set up final terminations in the distribution board at this stage.
When applicable, we can assist in the setup of smart lighting controls, energy monitoring systems, and building management systems.
The installation phase is complete once the building is connected to the electricity grid safely, as arranged with the local DNO and meter provider.
As new build electrical contractors, Oaktree Electrical offer comprehensive inspection and testing services in accordance with BS 7671. This includes continuity of protective conductors, insulation resistance, polarity, earth loop impedance, RCD testing, and functional testing of circuits and devices.
After testing is complete, an Electrical Installation Certificate (EIC) is issued by the appropriate authority to signify that the work complies with current regulations.
For domestic projects, one of our Part P registered electricians will notify building control upon completion.
Post installation, our team will thoroughly explain the new system, including the location of the main panel and how to reset breakers, and elaborate on any new features or installations.
For record-keeping purposes, we’ll hand over all the necessary documentation, including as-built drawings, circuit charts, permits, test certificates, manufacturer manuals and warranties, and maintenance guidelines.
For new build houses, regular electricity checks are encouraged to check the functional testing of safety systems, fire alarms and emergency lighting.
An EICR should be carried out every 3 or 5 years for commercial properties.
We conduct PAT tests for office or site equipment every year in compliance with The Electricity at Work Regulations 1989.
We ensure any changes or upgrades to the system are carried out safely and by one of our electricians. We’ll also monitor and optimise your energy usage patterns and suggest cost-saving improvements.

We provide electrical installation services for a wide range of new build developments, including private homes, multi-unit residential complexes, commercial properties, and larger projects for building companies across the southeast of England, South London, and Essex.
An Automatic Opening Ventilation (AOV) system is designed to clear smoke and improve air quality in buildings during a fire. It’s a critical safety feature for high-rise buildings, ensuring compliance with fire safety regulations and providing a safer environment for building occupants in the event of an emergency.
An Integrated Reception System (IRS) is a solution that allows multiple TV and satellite services (such as Freeview, Freesat, Sky, and satellite TV) to be delivered to multiple units in a building through a single system. IRS systems are ideal for multi-occupancy developments and provide a convenient, reliable way to manage digital reception.
Yes, we offer ongoing maintenance and support for all the systems we install, including fire alarms, access control, CCTV, AOV systems, and more. Our services ensure that your systems remain operational, compliant with regulations, and reliable over time.
All of our work as new build electrical contractors closely follows building control, and the latest legal requirements, ensuring our work meets or exceeds regulatory standards.
You’ll receive all the necessary certificates, test results, detailed plans, and user guides for your electrical installation.
